Warning to Restaurants: Don’t Store Food in Bathrooms

A restaurant in Florida has been penalized for storing food on the bathroom floor. The offending Checker’s restaurant employees were stacking hamburger buns from floor to ceiling in the men’s bathroom, just inches from the toilets.

According to reports, they also stored cups there.  All kinds of nasty things could have been happening to the bread and such during its storage in the bathrooms—which is why the restaurant got stuck with numerous health code violations.

Apparently employees were storing food on the floor in other locations throughout the restaurant as well, and the water treatment system was faulty—so this wasn’t the only problem. Still, you have to wonder—why would employees think the bathroom is a good place to store food?

Maybe they were out of space?  Maybe the bathroom temperature was really well regulated? Maybe they wanted customers to be able to build their own burgers in the bathroom—while they got their other business done.  Or maybe you shouldn’t look too closely at those burgers, if you know what I mean.
